Early Spring Planting
Plant these hardy varieties now so their roots can establish before flowering and before any droughts start in spring and summer.
I have selected a range of plants that are fully hardy in case of any late frosts, are relatively slug-tolerant, which is especially important as the weather warms up but is still wet, and that will grow in our local clayey soils.
You can find plants for damp soils at the bottom of this page.

Plants for Damp Soils
These plants can handle a spot that gets water-logged. Some require a damp soil all year round while others will also flourish in a drier soil. This selection includes plants that prefer sun and plants that prefer shade. Click on the photos for more information.
