Great in salads, on pizzas and with pasta. We recommend growing on a sunny windowsill indoors*, either in individual pots or plant three in a single two litre pot. Keep picking the leaves (especially the growing tips) for use in cooking, and these plants will last all year and more.
Basil is particularly popular with slugs and snails, which is why we recommend growing it indoors, but it can be grown outdoors in warm weather in a spot that isn't prone to slug or snail damage. Water early in the morning to reduce the risk from molluscs.
* Use a good peat-free indoor plants compost to avoid getting little flies (known as fungus gnats) in your home.
